v2.0: from xRTML (Extensive Realtime Markup Language) to xRTML (Extensive Realtime Multiplatform Language)

We are proud to announce that today we have hit a milestone. xRTML v2.0 is out.

While a lot of the changes are transparent to the developers and users, the truth is that our team has been very hard at work on the background doing some much needed changes and improvements on the core, along with the ORTC team.

This is also where we shift our philosophy slightly. xRTML now stands for Extensible Realtime Multiplatform Language. A lot has happened since we first came out with the concept of xRTML and it no longer makes sense to keep it being called a markup language. xRTML has grown way beyond that during the last year (wow, we’re almost 1 year old already). We now have APIs for 9 languages and platforms (including the original markup), with more being developed.

xRTML is closer than ever to what we wanted it to be in the first place: a tool for developers to build their own real time applications, with a real potential to become a standard. And there’s so much more coming to you all during the next few months.

Stay tuned and thank you so much for being aboard this amazing journey with us.

The xRTML team.
